Luke Ramsey has been named the 2017 Artist in Residence for the City of Victoria. The Artist in Residence program provides the opportunity for a local artist to work collaboratively with City staff and the community to identify and develop a creative artwork for one or more capital projects over a one-year term.

Ramsey is best known for his outdoor murals, with his work having been featured in the New York Times, as well as locally at the Drake Hotel and the B.C. Children's Hospital. His work has won won an Award of Excellence from the City of Edmonton in 2011, and a 2012 National Urban Design Medal from the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada.

The City will host a casual "meet and greet" with Ramsey on Tuesday, November 15 from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. at City Hall. Participants are invited to drop by and meet Ramsey as well as collaborate with him artistically. Drawing materials will be provided or participants can bring their own.
