Update on New Arts Initiative Welcoming Refugees to Canada

Earlier in 2016, the Canada Council for the Arts and Sun Life Financial announced a pilot initiative called Welcome to the Arts, which aims to connect Syrian refugees with the Canadian artistic community.
From April 1, 2016 to March 31, 2017, the initiative will support eligible arts organizations that wish to provide recent Syrian refugees with free admission to a performance, exhibition or arts event in their communities.
The Canada Council has committed $150,000 to the program and Sun Life Financial will contribute $50,000 through its Making the Arts More Accessible™ program.
