Anvil Centre is accepting applications for its inaugural artists in residence program, which commences January 2017.

The residency is self-directed and will accommodate 12 artists or collectives, one for each month of the year. During the four-week period, artists can use the Anvil Centre to research, develop and produce new or ongoing bodies of work.

The Anvil Centre includes state-of-the-art amenities, such as a printing press, a dance studio, and musical rooms. Artists who get a residency will also be able to access secure office and storage space, at no personal expense other than cost of materials. Anvil Centre is seeking artists and collaborative groups of all disciplines.

Anvil Centre launched the initiative to provide artists with dedicated space as well as attract locals to the Centre. In exchange, artists must facilitate an outreach program during their residency. “Something like a painting demo, a studio visit,” says Biliana Velkova, arts coordinator. “It’s a chance for the community to see an artist at work and find out more in depth about their process, their concepts and their way of thinking.”

Deadline

The deadline to apply is Nov. 15. Applicants need to submit, in one PDF document, a project summary and bio, a detailed project proposal and outreach program, a current CV and a minimum of five images of past work. For all the details, visit tinyurl.com/jqnk7qz.
