Vancouver Chamber Choir Opens Applications for Young Composers' Competition

Vancouver Chamber Choir has opened applications for its 13th Biennial Young Composers' Competition. Entries are accepted from young composers in three age categories: Elementary (8-12), Secondary (13-17) and College/University (18-22). In deference to Canada 150, the competition "will give special consideration to entries which use a Canadian text, are about Canadian themes, and are in either official language (English and French) or a Canadian First Nations language."

Finalist compositions will be played at Ryerson United Church in Vancouver (2205 W. 45th Avenue) on May 5. Cash awards will be presented to two winners in each age group and also in the special BC categories. Young composers are encouraged to seek the support of their own choir or school, which may also be eligible for an award. All entrants will receive four tickets to a Vancouver Chamber Choir subscription series concert of their choice in the 2017-2018 season.
