Daina Augaitis, the chief curator and associate director of the Vancouver Art Gallery since 1996, has announced that she plans to leave the gallery in 2017. During her time with VAG, she has curated solo exhibitions of local artists, including Ian Wallace, Marianne Nicholson, Douglas Coupland and Paul Wong. She will continue to collaborate with the gallery on occasional projects.
“I am very proud to have worked with a talented and dedicated team to elevate the gallery’s curatorial work as a leading visual art institution, with an international reach and a strong local impact,” said Augaitis.
She will step down at the end of the year.
