City of Vancouver Cultural Services has announced the launch of Communities and Artists Shifting Culture (CASC), a pilot program which combines the programs formerly known as Projects and Community Arts.

CASC grants support four types of short-term, one-time or limited series arts, cultural and creative projects: community-engaged art and culture, festivals/celebrations/parades, artistic creation or production, and small public art projects. Projects will be led by registered non-profit organizations, societies, charities, registered co-ops, and local First Nation Band Councils that advance the goals of the City’s culture plan, Culture|Shift.

Projects must be based in Vancouver, or if led by xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples, held on their traditional lands. Grant amounts range from $1,000 to $20,000.

The program is now open for applications and has a deadline of March 3. The CASC Information Guide is available here. After reviewing the guide, new applicants are asked to contact staff to obtain an application form, and all applicants are encouraged to contact staff to discuss the eligibility of your project. Staff contact information can be found in the guide.
