Applications are now open for the City of Vancouver’s Artist Studio Awards Program, which leases seven studios at below-market rates to artists who are Indigenous, Black, or people of colour.

Of the seven studios, five are live-work and two are work-only studios, and studios are offered for a two or three-year term, depending on the unit. To be eligible for the spaces, applicants must be practicing artists with a minimum of five years experience and have a maximum average household income of $55,500.

Artists must also live in Vancouver or are community members of the xwməθkwəy̓ əm, Skwxwú7mesh, or səlilwətaɬ First Nations, and a minimum of three studios will be awarded to artists from the three local nations (eg: minimum one from each Nation.)

Full application guidelines, and detailed information about the studios – including location, size, floorplans, rent, parking, and amenities – are available on the City’s webpage. The deadline to apply is August 4.
