City of New Westminster Names New Civic Facility

Royal City residents will be able to attend conferences, visit museums and enjoy theatre productions when the new Anvil Centre opens in 2014.

On Monday, New Westminster city council announced that the new civic centre that's under construction on Columbia Street would be named Anvil Centre.

Business for the Arts, Canada’s national association of business leaders who support the arts, has announced the pre-approved artsVest™ participants in Vancouver. artsVest is a sponsorship training and matching incentive program of Business for the Arts and delivered in Vancouver with funding support from Canadian Heritage and the BC Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development. The program’s goal is to assist small- to medium-sized arts and culture organizations in the development of new and mutually beneficial partnerships with local businesses.

City of New Westminster Creates Plan to Support Public Art

The City of New Westminster has drafted a new plan to formally guide how it acquires and pays for major public works of art like sculptures, murals, and monuments.

Under the proposed policy, the city would set aside funds from its annual operating budget and establish a special reserve fund to cover the costs of new installations.
