Health Arts Society, performing under the name “Concerts in Care,” is a registered charity which elevates the lives of British Columbian elders in care and retirement homes by providing high quality, live arts performances by paid professionals. We provide hundreds of concerts a year in the Lower Mainland and various locations around BC. Together with our sister organizations across Canada, have reached over well over a million elders.

Job Description:

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Managing Director is responsible for the overall impact and performance of the organization and its mandate. The MD is the public face of the organization and is responsible for operations and program growth, financial sustainability, fund development and administration. The MD advances relationships with artists, funders, and government and community partners.

Responsibilities:

Your Role Includes: developing and implementing strategy; setting concert schedules in consultation with our Artistic Director; sourcing performers; developing funding relationships and growing the funding base to allow for further growth; preparing grant proposals; managing board relations; representing HAS BC on our national association and managing the overall administration of the society.

Qualifications:

Desired Skills and Experiences:
There may be an element of “learning on the job” with this position, but any and all of following will be helpful: experience running a small lean organization, experience building strong partnerships, working in a community or non-profit environment; experience in leading and implementing fundraising activities; experience in grant writing; familiarity working with performers, performer’s contracts and musician’s unions; experience working in the seniors/residential care sector; experience with financial statements and strong leadership, communication and writing skills.

Remuneration:

Salary expected to be in the range of $80,000-$100,000 based on experience and negotiated structure of this position.
