The Opportunity
The Banff Centre is in search of a Program Manager responsible for the project management of an assigned portfolio of projects primarily related to Indigenous Arts program delivery. The Indigenous Arts department encompasses programming across performing arts, literary, visual, and digital media disciplines. The goal of Indigenous Arts programming is to advance regional, provincial, national, and international contemporary Indigenous artistic expression and to inspire artists to conceive powerful ideas and create new work while exploring topics of national importance.
The Program Manager, Indigenous Arts must have a strong understanding of Indigenous culture and the ability to build relationships within the Banff Centre community and external communities. This role is responsible for project management, implementation, and quality control of assigned programs and events, aligned with a strong project management approach that supports high-quality program delivery.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Document the project plan, program scope, scheduling, deliverables, resourcing, quality control, and implementation of arts and leadership programming at Banff Centre as assigned, based on priorities determined between the Arts, Operations, Development, Finance, and Program Administration teams.
Manage day-to-day project management for assigned programs, ensuring alignment with Banff Centre values and strategic objectives and supporting transformative learning experiences for all participants.
Develop processes for regularly communicating and reporting on program milestones, key deliverables, updates, and risk mitigation in consultation with the Managing Director, Program Management and Coordination and Resource Management, as well as Arts, Leadership, and Operations teams.
Align resource requests, planning, and allocation for programs within approved plans, budgets, and deadlines, in consultation with delivery areas.
Understand and respect the planning and operational needs of facilities, site-specific locations, production and coordination requirements, and hospitality.
Coordinate and/or participate in a regular process of program and event planning review and evaluation, ensuring high ethical standards and making recommendations as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
5+ years of proven program management experience, preferably within a creative environment.
University degree in an arts discipline or related field.
5+ years of project management experience.
Strong background in Visual Arts is an asset.
Experience building and managing programming budgets.
Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
Solid understanding of programming, events, marketing, promotion, and production.
Experience in production or post-secondary environments is an asset, along with literacy across a broad range of arts disciplines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work a flexible or irregular schedule, including weekends.
Employment Terms and Benefits
This is a salaried term position, subject to a 6-month probationary period, under Management/PSP employment terms.
Salary range: $68,714 – $102,040 based on experience.
Benefits include twenty paid vacation days and four personal days annually.
This is a 12-month term position.
