Job Description:

Are you passionate about shaping the future of dance at the Shadbolt Center for the Arts? Join our team at the Shadbolt Centre as a Fine Arts Leader for the dance program where you'll assist with the delivery of engaging programs, support talented instructors and manage specialized facilities! In this role, you will specialize in dance programming - drawing on your experience facilitating classes, supporting the implementation of the course syllabus/curriculum and managing performances in a theatres and studios.

Responsibilities:

You will assist with the planning, implementation, and execution of workshops, recurring classes, events, and performances, while also ensuring the safe and effective use of specialized studios. A key part of your role will involve engaging with instructors by providing coaching, and performance evaluation. You'll offer technical guidance on the operation of dance studios and support the artistic success of the program through strong classroom management, instructional skills, and thoughtful program development. You will perform related work as required.

Qualifications:

To qualify, you’ll need to have completed a two-year Community College course in dance including courses in teaching and related instructional experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. You’ll be required to have sound knowledge of the principles, practices and materials associated with dance programming, i.e. creating, managing, and supporting dance performance in a theatre setting. You’ll need to have a strong understanding of community needs and interests, as well as an ability to develop and evaluate programs that serve the community. You should have classroom management experience as well as an ability to teach participants of varying ages. A Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is required. Remuneration:

$31.97/hour + 12% in lieu of benefits
