Permanent Full-Time
35 hours/week
Salary: $50,000-$55,000 annually, depending on experience

THE ROLE: VISUAL & PERFORMING ARTS MANAGE
As the Visual & Performing Arts Manager, you’ll lead the planning, coordination, and evaluation of a wide array of visual and performing arts programs. You’ll supervise a diverse group of talented instructors and work closely with the Ceramics Manager and other team members to deliver high-quality, mission-driven arts education and experiences both in our centre and through community partnerships.
This is a role for a builder—someone who enjoys creating systems, supporting artists, and contributing positively to a collaborative team.
A DAY IN THE LIFE
You might start your day finalizing a schedule for children’s art camps, collaborate with a local theatre group to develop a new community class, check in with music instructors, and finish with budget planning or preparing content for an upcoming program launch. It’s a role that blends vision, detail, and people-focused leadership.

Responsibilities:
PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT & ADMINISTRATION
• Lead the planning, scheduling, and documentation of visual and performing arts programs in collaboration with the Ceramics Manager
• Prepare and manage program budgets, pricing, and revenue targets
• Supervise, recruit, onboard, and evaluate visual and performing arts instructors, including private music teachers
• Ensure Occupational Health & Safety compliance and best practices across programs
• Maintain program records and share updates with leadership and staff
• Enter and update course offerings in our online registration system (XplorRec)
• Collaborate with the Marketing Coordinator to ensure timely and accurate program promotion
• Oversee performance metrics and report on participation and program success
• Lead the annual Visual Arts Scholarship for Emerging Artists selection process
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & PARTNERSHIPS
• Build and sustain strong relationships with schools, local organizations, artists, and businesses
• Actively seek collaborative programming opportunities within the local arts and culture ecosystem
• Support fundraising, sponsorship, and advocacy efforts for the Arts Centre
GENERAL MANAGEMENT
• Participate in strategic planning and cross-departmental initiatives
• Propose new opportunities aligned with our mission
• Occasionally support broader events and projects led by the Arts Centre
Qualifications:
WHO YOU ARE
• A natural collaborator who enjoys working with artists and building strong relationships
• Highly organized and detail-focused, with excellent time management skills
• Passionate about the visual and performing arts, and their impact on individuals and communities
• A clear and thoughtful communicator with strong supervisory experience
• Comfortable balancing creative planning with administrative follow-through
QUALIFICATIONS
• University degree in Fine Arts, Arts Administration, Business Administration, HR, or equivalent experience
• 2+ years in program management or related experience
• Budgeting and pricing skills; ability to analyze and report on financial and participation data
• Strong HR, team management, and leadership capabilities
• Familiarity with online registration systems (XplorRec preferred)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; knowledge of Google Suite and Jotform is an asset
• Understanding of MSDS, WHIMIS, and OHS protocols
• Knowledge of the Tri-Cities arts and cultural landscape is a significant asset
• Level 1 First Aid certification is a bonus
