Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated and passionate Ceramic/Pottery Studio Lead who will help to establish/develop our ceramics/pottery program, oversee the on-going operations of the program, teach various classes/workshops, run and maintain the kiln and other equipment and assist in finding and supporting additional instructors. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ceramics, excellent organizational skills and a passion for teaching and community engagement.
NOTE: This is a new business (OPENING SEPTEMBER 1, 2025) and we are in the process of building out the studio, getting all the equipment/resources and developing our marketing materials and business plans. Feel free to ask any questions with your application as we understand there are quite a few unknowns at this point. But it’ll all come together and we’d love for you to be a part of helping to develop a great ceramics/pottery program!
Responsibilities:
· Manage the day-to-day operations of the pottery studio, including firing the kiln, scheduling, inventory management, and maintenance of equipment.
· Help develop and implement educational programs, workshops, and classes for all skill levels.
· Find and assist instructors, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.
· Foster a welcoming atmosphere for studio members and visitors, addressing inquiries and concerns effectively.
· Maintain studio equipment and ensure excellence in the cleanliness, organization, and safety standards of the studio.
· Collaborate with local artists and community organizations to promote the studio and expand outreach efforts.
Qualifications:
· Proven experience in ceramics and pottery, with a strong portfolio of work.
· Previous management or supervisory experience is preferred but not required. We prefer to find and develop the right person over extensive experience in this type of role.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
· Knowledge of kiln operation, glazing techniques, and studio maintenance.
· Passion for teaching and engaging with the community.
· Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
