City of Burnaby- Shadbolt in Your Community offers satellite fine arts programs in SD41 elementary schools, community centres and at Burnaby community events; providing opportunities to sample multi-discipline programs at a more accessible cost. These programs are inclusive, support freedom of expression and give students the experience of working with arts specialists in a creative learning environment that supports community growth. Involvement in the arts fosters important skills developed through imagination; critical thinking, problem solving, social and emotional skills, self-confidence, self-discipline and verbal and non-verbal communication.

Job Description:

Are you passionate about Music and enjoy teaching baby’s and toddlers? If so, City of Burnaby and Shadbolt in your Community is looking for qualified and experienced Contract Music Instructor to develop and implement age-appropriate music programs for Baby music classes with adults, and preschool music classes for ages 2 months – 5 yrs old. (separated by age group) Specifically looking for Friday morning availability, but not limited to.

Responsibilities:

•Develop and implement age-appropriate music programs for babies and toddlers.
•Create engaging and interactive music sessions to promote early childhood development.
•Foster a positive and including learning environment for young children and their caregivers.
•Incorporate a variety of instruments, songs and activities to enhance sensory experiences.

Qualifications:

•Completion of, or enrollment in, a university or college level music program (BFA)
•Degree in Early Childhood Education, Music education or related field.
•Proven experience teaching music to babies, toddlers, or preschoolers.
•Familiarity with child development theories and age-appropriate learning techniques
•Ability to communicate effectively with both children and parents.
•Strong organization and multitasking skills.
•Successful candidates must have Emergency Level First Aid- CPR C or be willing to obtain certification prior to the start of the program.
•Background check and relevant certifications as required.
