JOB DESCRIPTION:
CONTRACTOR TEACHING SERVICES
Place des Arts is seeking a committed, enthusiastic, and qualified Violin Teacher with experience teaching private lessons and group classes on Fridays during our 2025/2026 season. The candidate must be passionate about teaching and interact well with students of different ages and abilities. Contractor teachers determine the curriculum and teaching methodology. Place des Arts coordinates studio space, scheduling, registration, and program promotions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • All teachers are required to obtain and provide a Police Information Check with a vulnerable sector check prior to commencing work

  • Teachers are not employees of Place des Arts and are required to work independently within the structure and administrative support provided

  • The successful candidate will be required to teach a year-long violin group class for beginners on Fridays from 4:15–5:00 pm, with the option of teaching private lessons before and/or after this class

  • Additional private lesson teaching days may also be possible

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor of Music or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of three years of teaching experience, working with students of various ages and abilities in private lesson and group class settings

  • Ability to communicate and interact positively with students

  • Proficient in teaching a variety of ages and abilities

  • Highly responsible and punctual

  • Thoughtful, energetic, and passionate about teaching

  • Ability to teach other instruments is an asset

  • Eager to participate in and contribute to our vibrant centre

REMUNERATION:
Successful candidates will be engaged as independent contractors and earn fees based on student enrolment. Depending on enrolment levels, contractor teachers typically have the opportunity to obtain fees equivalent to between $44 and $89 per group class teaching hour. Private lessons start at $48 per teaching hour.
