NWXR Program Coordinator and Assistant Producer 2025-26
/Organization:
New Works & Interplay_2026
Deadline:
Jun. 30, 2025
Organization Description:
Background: New Works is a Vancouver-based non-profit organization that provides dance artist support and presentation opportunities, and is dedicated to developing communities through accessible art engagement. The organization hosts an annual presentation season, alongside education and development initiatives, and artist management and support. New Works has been an active member of the Vancouver contemporary dance community for more than30 years.
In 2021 New Works presented the inaugural NWXR season; a program which supports new voices in the development and exploration of creative technologies and embodied practice. Each season NWXR offers a unique suite of opportunities for movement artists to investigate, learn, and create within the intersecting space of XR (Extended Reality); an umbrella term encompassing augmented (AR), virtual (VR), and mixed reality technologies. In parallel to this program, New Works began a partnership with interplay_festival in 2025 as an opportunity to support artists furthering their practices into live online performance works.
The NWXR Program Coordinator and Assistant Producer role has been structured to involve work with both interplay_2026 and the NWXR program, collaboratively producing festival and community programming that engages artists in audiences in the exploration and appreciation of embodied technology. While these two programs are run by different organizations and remain distinct, we see this role as an exciting opportunity to bridge these two closely related platforms and connect with new communities.
This role is ideal for a driven and creative individual who is excited to bring a fresh vision to NWXR, support and engage dance artists in XR spaces, and collaboratively produce a fall festival and winter workshop series under the mentorship of the New Works leadership team.
