Job Description:

Catriona Jeffries Gallery is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join the gallery’s Directors team, a full-time position based in Vancouver contributing to the gallery’s local, national, and international program. The Associate Director position requires leadership toward the gallery’s work with artists, museums, and private collection development while participating in an environment of critical thinking and rigorous translations of ideas. The Candidate should be deeply engaged and interested in a longstanding commitment, with opportunities of advancement. As the gallery navigates an expanded project, both in Vancouver and internationally, the successful Candidate will have exceptional knowledge of contemporary art, a strong work ethic, a nuanced ability to work with museums and private collections, a sophisticated working relationship with artists, a deep understanding of the international art world, and a desire to work within a rigorous and committed team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities:

Working closely with the Director, the successful Candidate will fundamentally engage in all aspects of artist representation with a dedicated focus on acquisitions within museums and private collections while expanding and developing those relationships. This Associate Director role entails exceptional communication skills and the ability to articulate the work of gallery artists to longstanding clients and curators, while developing new relationships that will deepen the understanding, exhibition reach, and acquisition of artists’ work. The Candidate will contribute to the orchestration of on-site and off-site exhibitions, viewings, events, and organized programs to support the practices of represented artists.

Qualifications:

The Candidate will have an academic background in art, art history, curatorial studies, or a related equivalent. The Candidate must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a museum or gallery context. The position requires fastidious work, open and clear communication, flexibility, honesty, and an ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and constantly shifting environment. The Candidate is expected to work independently on multifaceted tasks and projects whilst constantly sharing new ideas. The administrative area of this role requires knowledge of operating systems such as ArtLogic, Google Workspace, Adobe Suite, and Microsoft Office. This position is full-time Tuesday through Saturday, with periodic requirements for work in the evenings. The Candidate must hold a valid passport and be able to work in Canada as well as travel nationally and internationally when required.

Remuneration:
