Job Description:

Griffin Art Projects seeks applications for the position of Marketing & Public Programs Assistant. Reporting to the Director, the Marketing & Public Programs Assistant will provide assistance with the development and execution of our ongoing public programs, outreach, and marketing efforts.

Responsibilities:

This position will work directly with the Gallery Director to undertake the design and development of visual marketing materials, assisting with social media, print and e-newsletters and marketing copy, and developing other materials for communications in addition to gaining general knowledge and experience in marketing and communications activities for public non profits. This position will also work with the Director to develop and deliver Griffin’s public programs assisting the coordination and delivery of exhibition-related programs including opening receptions, public talks and other events.

Qualifications:

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS CAREFULLY:

The ideal candidate for this position will be currently pursuing a Bachelor or Master of Fine Arts degree in Visual Arts or a bachelor’s or Masters degree in another arts-related field and have an interest in pursuing work in art galleries, visual arts and/or museum studies. The position requires excellent organizational and planning skills with demonstrated ability to meet multiple deadlines, competency in both the Office and Adobe suites, and design software as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Fluency in French is considered an asset but is not required. This position is funded by the Government of Canada’s Young Canada Works in Heritage Organizations program.

In order to meet eligibility requirements, applicants must:
● be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada;
● Note: Non-Canadian students or graduates holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible.
● be legally entitled to work in Canada;
● be between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment (between 15 and 30 years of age for the YCW in Both Official Languages program);
● meet the specific eligibility criteria of the program to which you apply;
● be registered in the YCW online candidate inventory;
● be willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment; and
● not have another full-time job during the YCW work assignment. Students in an YCW employment program must also:
● have registered as a high school, college, CEGEP or university student (as defined by their educational institution) in the semester preceding the YCW work assignment; and
● intend to return to studies during or after the YCW work assignment.
