Job Description:
We are seeking an outgoing and independent individual to support our Senior Operations Manager to support our retail operation, the Cannery Gift Shop. Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager, the Gift Shop clerk will be responsible for greeting and assisting customers, making sales suggestions to them, maintaining the appearance of the store and ringing in sales transactions. This position also works very closely with the interpretive team at the Cannery and volunteers in the store.
Specific tasks and duties assigned to the Gift Shop Clerk will include:
-Serve customers by developing rapport, building customer confidence, providing accurate product information, and helping with product selection
- Demonstrate knowledge of products and inventory to ensure customer satisfaction
- Maintain a clean and orderly retail space that is appealing to shoppers
- Perform all required cash register transactions efficiently and accurately
- Contribute to store profitability by receiving, handling, replenishing, and processing incoming product flow
- Provide excellent customer service by responding to customer questions or issues regarding product features and benefits
- Assist in inventory management tasks, including receiving shipments, conducting stock counts, and reporting low stock or product discrepancies to management.
- Supporting loss prevention efforts by monitoring the sales floor and reporting suspicious activity to a manger or supervisor
- Assist in resolving customer complaints

Skills and Experience:
- Previous retail experience
- Proficient in Point-of-Sale system and credit card processing systems
- Experience in delivering exceptional customer service
- Fluency in English is required; fluency in a second language would be beneficial.

To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria: be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period, be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment and have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations. A satisfactory vulnerable sector screening with a police service will also be required.

Remuneration:
$19.50 per hour @ 7 hours per day for 5 days a week plus 6% in lieu of vacation and benefits. Comprehensive training will be provided by the employer along with 1:1 mentorship provided by the Senior Operations Manager
