Providence Health Care is seeking a detail-oriented and thoughtful Art Integration & Curatorial Associate to support the delivery of the Art at Providence Health Care (PHC). Working closely with the Art Curator, this role blends curatorial insight, spatial planning, and project coordination across a growing art program of over 900 artworks, public art initiatives, and archives. You will support the integration of art into healthcare environments—primarily for the new St. Paul’s Hospital—while contributing to collection stewardship, public art projects, and program development. Responsibilities:
What You Will Do Summary Reporting to the Director of Mission Engagement, and working under the functional direction of the Art Collection Curator, the Art Integration & Curatorial Associate:
- supports the delivery and ongoing development of Art at Providence Health Care across three core areas: Art Collection & Program, Capital Projects (including the New St. Paul’s Hospital), and Archives & Artifacts
- collaborates with art volunteers and student interns to advance art program initiatives and activities
- contributes curatorial expertise, spatial planning, project coordination, and implementation support for a growing collection of over 900 artworks
- supports the integration of art into healthcare environments, with a primary focus on the New St. Paul’s Hospital (NSPH)
- assists with the stewardship, documentation, preservation, and management of the art collection, archives, and artifacts
- coordinates and supports public art projects, exhibitions, installations, and related program development activities
- contributes to both the immediate priorities of the New St. Paul’s Hospital and the long-term strategic growth of the Art at PHC program
- promotes a safe, respectful, and civil working environment for patients, residents, families, visitors, volunteers, and staff in accordance with Providence Health Care’s Mission, Vision, Values, and strategic directions
- performs related duties as assigned to support program objectives and organizational priorities
Qualifications:
What You Bring Education, Training and Experience:
- Degree in Fine Arts, Art History, Curatorial Studies, Museum Studies, Exhibition Design, Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of recent related experience in curatorial, collections management, art program coordination, exhibition planning, spatial design, or art integration, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Experience supporting or managing public art projects.
- Knowledge of and interest in art in the built environment, public spaces, and/or healthcare settings considered an asset.

- Excellent visual, verbal, and written communication skills.

- Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including advanced working knowledge of Adobe InDesign.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Demonstrated knowledge of art handling, conservation principles, artwork installation practices, and collection management systems.
- Demonstrated understanding of curatorial practices, collection stewardship, and exhibition development.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute creative and practical solutions to support art integration within healthcare environments.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, initiative, and discretion in handling sensitive information and project requirements.

Your Day to Day:
- Supports the stewardship and ongoing management of the Providence Health Care Art Collection.
- Assists with artwork cataloguing, documentation, database maintenance, and collection record updates.
- Supports art donations, deaccessioning activities, collection care, insurance updates, and conservation planning, as required.
- Liaises with internal stakeholders regarding artwork requests, collection-related needs, and program activities.
- Supports communications, research, exhibitions, lectures, tours, and other Art at PHC programming initiatives, as capacity allows.
- Provides administrative and project coordination support for Art at PHC initiatives.
- Supports the integration of artworks into healthcare environments, with a primary focus on the New St. Paul’s Hospital, including the development of visual exhibition layouts using architectural drawings.
- Assists with the planning, coordination, documentation, delivery, movement, and installation of artworks throughout project phases.
- Supports the management and coordination of site-specific, values-based public art projects, collaborating with internal teams, consultants, artists, and vendors as required.
- Supports the coordination, documentation, organization, and integration of archives and artifacts, primarily for the New St. Paul’s Hospital project.
- Maintains an on-site presence, with responsibilities carried out in person across designated - Providence Health Care locations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
