Job Description:

Are you passionate about theatre and enjoy teaching and inspiring children through drama? If so, Shadbolt in your Community is looking for qualified and experienced Contract Drama/Acting Instructors to plan, organize and facilitate drama/acting classes for ages 6-12 years old (separated by age group). Programs are offered in Burnaby community centres and elementary schools throughout the City.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include planning and delivering high quality lessons, creating class outlines and curriculum goals, and providing a safe, inclusive and creative learning environment where children can build confidence, imagination and performance skills.

Qualifications:

Applicants should have completed, or be currently enrolled in, a university or college level drama or theatre program, (BFA preferred) Equivalent education and relevant teaching experience will also be considered. You must have a strong teaching background, strong classroom management and communication skills and the ability to create engaging age-appropriate lesson plans. High Five® is considered an asset. Successful candidates must have Emergency Level First Aid- CPR C or be willing to obtain certification prior to the start of the program.
We are currently hiring for the Fall 2026 season and beyond. We are seeking instructors who are available to teach weekday afterschool programs with the occasional weekend opportunities community centres and elementary schools across the City of Burnaby.
Contract hours are based on registration.

Remuneration:

Hourly wage: $36.77 - $45.18 + 4% in lieu of benefits
