The Cinematheque is seeking a friendly, resourceful individual with marketing experience to support grassroots community outreach for the 2026 European Union Film Festival (EUFF), taking place November 12-26.
Presented annually in partnership with European Union member states and local consulates, EUFF brings films from across Europe to audiences in Vancouver. We are looking for someone who can help us connect directly with local communities, organizations, businesses, and individuals to build awareness of the festival and encourage attendance. We’re looking for someone who enjoys making connections, isn’t afraid to pick up the phone or introduce themselves to someone new, and can think creatively about how to reach people beyond traditional channels.
This is a short-term, flexible contract focused on grassroots audience development, running approximately October 13–November 26. This position is primarily remote, with some in-person work required for meetings, distribution, and community outreach. Hours are flexible and can be scheduled around other commitments, with work taking place during the day, evenings, or weekends as appropriate.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Communication & Marketing Manager as needed to:
- Research community organizations, groups, businesses, and networks connected to participating EU member states and develop an outreach contact list for the festival.
- Personally connect with community contacts by email, phone, social media, and in-person to promote the festival.
- Distribute festival promotion materials (printed and digital) to local consulates and community groups.
- Follow up with contacts throughout the campaign.
- Provide varied support as needed to aid the communications and operations efforts of the organization as necessary
Qualifications:
- Experience or education in marketing, PR, community outreach, or related field
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong organizational and time-management skills; high attention to detail
- Confidence reaching out to new people and organizations by email, phone, and in person
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage competing priorities and deadlines
- An appreciation of the non-profits art sector, and an interest in cinema and culture.
How to Apply:
To apply, please send your resume (PDF) and a brief email summarizing why you would be a great fit for this kind of community outreach, to: careers@thecinematheque.ca with “EUFF Community Outreach Assistant” in the subject line.
Applications are due October 2, 2026. Interviews will be held October 5-7, with an approximate start date of October 13.
No phone calls, please. We thank all applicants for their interest; only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
Remuneration:
Flat contract rate of $2,000, based on approximately 70 hours of work between October 13 and November 26, 2026.
