Organization Description:
MISSA is a renowned arts program founded in 1984 by Robin Hopper, Cheryl Samuels, Flemming Jorgensen, Rona Murray, and Carole Sabiston at Pearson College in Metchosin, BC, on Vancouver Island in Canada.
MISSA takes place on the beautiful campus of Pearson College in Metchosin, overlooking Pedder Bay. The campus is situated on the traditional territory of the Sc’ianew Nation.
Students come from near and far to gather at MISSA each year. The program takes place at the end of a glorious, green, tree-lined road on a beautiful seaside campus.
Accommodations are available for instructors and students who stay on campus while taking a workshop, and we also welcome day students from the surrounding communities.
Each day, everyone gathers for shared meals in the dining hall, and evening events and activities take place throughout each session. 2027 will mark the 41st summer program!

Job Description:
We offer students 2-day, 5-day, and 7-day workshops for adults in a wide range of disciplines, including clay, fibre, drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, mixed media, sculpture, writing, and book arts. There are 12 students maximum per workshop. Instructors teaching 5 or 7 days are requested to give a brief presentation about their work. Workshops are 6 hours in duration per day and we pay $60/hour. Accommodations and meals are provided and travel expenses can be reimbursed to a pre- arranged budget.

Responsibilities:
plan an exciting, fun and challenging workshop curriculum
attend to your students 6 hours a day for the duration of your workshop
assist with the promotional efforts to fill registration for your workshop
create and maintain a welcoming inclusive environment for all students
prepare supplies list for students
if you are bulk ordering supplies to share with students keep receipts to be reimbursed
communicate with students 2 weeks before the class begins
with the help of your students clean up the workshop area for the next group
stay on campus for the duration of the workshop period
give a brief presentation (10 minutes maximum) about your work
Qualifications:
professional level skill in your area or expertise
experience teaching adults in a workshop environment
experience working as a professional artist
demonstrated posistive interpersonal experience with adult students
3 art teaching references

Remuneration:
We pay $60/hour for 6 hour workshop day ($360/day). We provide accommodation and meals. We reimburse travel to a predetermined budget for artists coming from areas outside of South Vancouver Island.
