VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTION:
Glitch Theatre is seeking engaged members for our Board of Directors. We want to strengthen our ability to combine theatrical excellence with a commitment to D/disability representation. If you’re passionate about the performing arts, or have lived experience of D/disability (or both!), we want to hear from you.

Glitch strongly values diversity and fosters an equitable and inclusive work and volunteer environment. Our volunteer board currently consists of members from a variety of backgrounds and life experiences—from law to healthcare to marketing—and we welcome all interested individuals to apply. We particularly encourage applications from members of equity-seeking or under-represented groups. As a D/disability-led company, we strongly encourage those who live with or self-identify with D/disability to let us know of your access needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve a three-year term.

  • Attend bi-monthly board meetings and participate in articulating and supporting the company’s strategic planning.

  • Join board committees and contribute to fundraising initiatives as needed.

  • Reside in B.C., as required by the Societies Act.

  • Attend in-person meetings and events in Vancouver (priority given to applicants living in the Lower Mainland).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A pragmatic yet imaginative mindset, with a strong interest in cultural philanthropy within our sector.

  • Big-picture thinking and the ability to recognize priorities.

  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves, join the team, and help achieve organizational objectives.

  • Skills in capacity building, marketing, grant writing, strategic planning, fundraising, and/or events (assets).

  • Experience or familiarity with the Vancouver theatre industry, non-profit boards, art boards, the BC Societies Act, and/or the D/disability community (assets).
