VOLUNTEER DESCRIPTION:
Glitch Theatre is seeking a Treasurer for its Board of Directors. The Treasurer plays a vital role in monitoring the organization’s financial health and ensuring transparency. Glitch aims to strengthen its ability to combine theatrical excellence with a commitment to D/disability representation. If you’re passionate about the performing arts, have lived experience of D/disability (or both), Glitch wants to hear from you. The organization values diversity and fosters an equitable and inclusive environment. The volunteer board consists of members from a variety of backgrounds and life experiences, and applications from members of equity-seeking or underrepresented groups are especially encouraged. As a D/disability-led company, Glitch encourages applicants to share access needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve a three-year term and attend bi-monthly board meetings.
Support the company’s strategic planning and participate in committees and fundraising initiatives.
Work with staff to monitor financial health, ensure compliance and transparency, and prepare financial reports.
According to the Societies Act, board members must reside in B.C. Preference will be given to those in the Lower Mainland who can attend in-person meetings and events.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong understanding of accounting principles, budgeting, and financial reporting.
Professional experience in accounting or financial management (preferred).
Integrity and trustworthiness.
Attention to detail and precision in financial record management and compliance.
Willingness to actively contribute to team objectives.
Experience with Vancouver’s theatre industry, non-profit or arts boards, the BC Societies Act, and/or the D/disability community (assets).
