North Van Arts, founded in 1969 as The North Vancouver Community Arts Council, is a grassroots, non-profit, charitable cultural organization dedicated to maximizing the intrinsic value of the arts in all media.
Our mandate is to enable emerging and professional artists in all disciplines, to bridge cultures, and to build strong and healthy communities through the arts.
Located in CityScape Community ArtSpace, the organization consists of a volunteer Board of Directors, an Executive Director and support staff, and over 100 dedicated volunteers. Our membership is over 400 strong and includes individuals, students, seniors, families, cultural groups and businesses.

Volunteer Opportunity Description:
Join North Van Arts as a volunteer for the 16th annual North Shore Art Crawl and its first-ever Kick-Off Party! Taking place October 1–4 across venues throughout the North Shore, the Art Crawl brings together more than 120 local artists, community partners, and art enthusiasts for a weekend of art, community, and exploration.
Volunteers will help create a welcoming and organized experience for participating artists and visitors. Depending on your shift and location, you may assist artists with light set-up or take-down, greet visitors, track attendance, share information about nearby Art Crawl locations and North Van Arts programming, help visitors navigate the venue, and briefly watch an artist’s station when needed.
This is a great opportunity to meet local artists, connect with the community, and be part of one of the North Shore’s largest annual arts events.
Volunteers must be at least 15 years old.
Responsibilities:
As part of our volunteer support team your duties will include:
Assisting artists set-up if needed, but not expected to do any heavy lifting (morning shifts)
Keep count of how many visitors come to the venue by using the ‘Visitor Tally Sheet’
Inform visitors of other North Shore Art Crawl locations in the area
Inform visitors of North Van Arts programing
Become familiar with the venue (bathroom location, emergency exits, accessible entrances, etc.)
Assist in watching an artists’ station if they need to take a short break
Assist with take-down at the end of the event (afternoon shifts)
NVA staff will be available to brief you prior to your shift(s). Volunteers should be at least 15 years old for the North Shore Art Crawl, and at least 19 years old for the Kick-off Party.
Qualifications:
Minimum volunteer age for North Shore Art Crawl: 15+
Minimum volunteer age for the kick-off party: 19+
Sociable, friendly, punctual, and able to communicate in English
Prior volunteer experience is appreciated but not necessary.
Interest in the arts is highly appreciated.
