Public Art Selection Panel Roster 2026–2028

CALL FOR ARTISTS:
The City of Surrey Public Art Program is seeking a roster of community members and arts professionals to participate in the selection of public art projects. The Public Art Selection Panel Roster is part of a pilot initiative to develop a list of 50 individuals who reflect a diversity of demographics, professions, and neighbourhoods in Surrey. As public art projects arise, individuals from the roster will be invited to participate on selection panels to review and select from a range of artist proposals for public art opportunities across the city.
Eligibility
Open to individuals 19+ years of age who live in Metro Vancouver. Priority will be given to applicants who reside and/or own a business in Surrey.
Community members must be residents of Surrey with an interest in public art, an open mind, and a collaborative spirit.
Arts workers are eligible, including those working in creation, writing, curation, arts criticism, arts direction and administration, architecture, and other roles that contribute to the creation and sharing of artwork for the public.
Individuals who self-identify as members of equity-seeking and/or under-represented communities are strongly encouraged to apply.
Commitment
Each selection panel is comprised of 3 to 5 members. In-person meetings are preferred, though accommodations can be made for online participation. Panel duties include:
Reviewing artist submissions, including proposals and qualifications
Attending selection panel meeting(s) to review, analyze, and discuss proposals
Recommending a shortlist and/or an artist or artist team for a public art commission

FEES/COMPENSATION:
Panelists are paid an honorarium. Artists are compensated according to CARFAC rates for each panel they participate in.
