CALL FOR ARTISTS:
Call for Applications: Eco-Process Artist Residency, in mentorship with Morgan Sears-Williams at the Blue Cabin Floating Artist Residency.
Priority is given to LGBTQ+ 2S emerging artists with some experience in photo/lens-based practices.
Applications are now open for a one-month summer residency for emerging artists in Metro Vancouver and Indigenous territories/reserves in or connected to this region. The selected artist will have access to the Blue Cabin studio, adjoining deckhouse accommodations, staff support, and a residency fee plus public program fee (totalling $3,500), as well as funds for materials.
Mentorship includes up to three sessions with interdisciplinary artist Morgan Sears-Williams to explore eco-processing and alternative photographic techniques such as phytogram, lumen printing, cyanotype, and other sustainable processes.
The residency invites reflection on the Blue Cabin’s unique site on the waters of Vancouver, within the territories of the Musqueam (xʷməθkʷəy̓əm), Squamish (Skwxwú7mesh), and Tsleil-Waututh (səlilwətaɬ) Nations. Artists are encouraged to consider questions of sustainability, transformation, and relational creation within layered histories and future imaginaries.
This residency is produced by grunt gallery in collaboration with the Blue Cabin Cooperative.
