CALL FOR ARTISTS:
Lumière Festival is seeking artists, collectives, designers, performers, makers, students, and creative thinkers to help transform downtown Vancouver into a vibrant celebration of light, creativity, and community this November 12-14th.
We invite proposals for light-based installations, projections, interactive experiences, illuminated artworks, performances, and other creative interventions that engage audiences in public spaces. Whether this is your first public art project or your fiftieth, we encourage you to apply. We are seeking a diverse range of works from intimate interventions and emerging artist projects to ambitious large-scale installations.
Lumière provides meaningful opportunities for artists of all disciplines and backgrounds to create, experiment, and share their work with thousands of festival attendees. The festival welcomes projects at all scales and budgets, fostering a platform for both emerging and established artists to showcase their creativity and connect with new audiences.
While we aim to primarily shine a light on our local artist community, we will also welcome applications from international artists.
To make the application process more accessible and transparent, artists are asked to submit proposals within one of the following budget categories.
Spark ($500–$1,999) – Open to any and all ideas, whether you’re a first-time artist, student, community group, or seasoned creative. Small-scale interventions, light sculptures, projections, performances, and experimental works are encouraged.
Glow ($2,000–$4,999) – Projects requiring moderate fabrication, technical support, equipment rental, or artist fees.
Illuminate ($5,000–$9,999) – More ambitious installations involving larger footprints, fabrication, multiple collaborators, or advanced technical requirements.
Radiate ($10,000–$19,999) – Signature installations, immersive experiences, and highly interactive works requiring significant production support.
Beacon ($20,000+) – While Lumière is not commissioning large international installations in 2026, we welcome submissions at this scale so we can learn about your work and consider it for future festival programming and funding opportunities.
