CALL FOR ARTISTS:
Langley City is inviting artists, muralists, and artist teams to apply for a new outdoor mural at Douglas Park. The selected artist(s) will work with Langley City to develop a cohesive design across all four exterior walls of the newly built washroom facility, reflecting the energy, diversity, history, and community spirit of Douglas Park.
What They’re Looking For:
A cohesive mural design for all four exterior walls
Artwork that reflects the diversity of park users and community members
Themes connected to recreation, community events, connection, and shared experiences
Original, creative artwork that is welcoming and family-friendly
Artwork suitable for a large-scale outdoor public space
Who Can Apply:
Individual artists and artist teams
Artists and creatives working in mural art and other visual arts suitable for the project
Artists from the Lower Mainland and surrounding region
Artists of all backgrounds, identities, experiences, and perspectives

HOW TO APPLY:
Submit your application electronically in PDF format to arts@langleycity.ca with the subject line “Douglas Park Washroom Building Mural 2026-01.”
Please include:
A current resume, CV, or short biography for each artist
Up to 5 images, links, or other examples that represent your artistic practice
A brief description of your idea and how it connects to the site and community (maximum one page)
Full contact information for each artist
Contact information for two professional references, if available
Optional: A brief concept or rough sketch may be included, but is not required
A completed mural design is not required at the application stage. The selected artist(s) will work with Langley City to develop the final design.

FEES/COMPENSATION:
The selected artist will receive an all-inclusive honorarium of $12,000 CAD, covering artist fees, design, labour, materials, equipment, insurance, transportation, and installation. $4,000 will be provided at the start of the project and $8,000 upon completion.
