Arts Club Theatre Appoints New Executive Director

Following a five-month, nation-wide search, the Arts Club Theatre Company has appointed Peter Cathie White as its new executive director.

Cathie White is no newcomer to the Arts Club - he has spent 12 years with the company, most recently as its director of sales and marketing. Under his leadership, the company has seen unprecedented subscription growth and strong patron loyalty. According to a media release, Cathie White's work has helped cement the Arts Club's status as one of Canada's healthiest arts organizations.

"With such a strong track record with the company, his deep passion for live theatre, and an entrepreneurial flair, Peter was an ideal candidate for the position," said Ross Paul, board chair.

Cathie White replaces Howard R. Jang, who was recently appointed as director of SFU Woodward's Cultural Unit and a Professor of Professional Practice in the School for the Contemporary Arts. Jang spent 14 years as the Arts Club's executive director.

Cathie White's appointment comes as the company prepares for a move, along with Bard on the Beach, to a new theatre hub in Southeast False Creek in 2015.
