Cedric Literary Awards Open for Submissions

The Cedric Literary Awards, which award unpublished BC writers over the age of 50, have opened for submissions. In 2017, for the first time, the contest is also open to writers from the Yukon, Alberta and Saskatchewan, with an eye toward expanding nationally by 2020.

Juries grant awards of $3,000 to the winners of each category (fiction, non-fiction and poetry), as well as an equivalent prize to an outstanding First Nations writer. The awards are based in Victoria and were established in 2015.

The deadline for submissions has been extended to June 1, 2017. Interested writers are encouraged to review the 2017 competition guidelines at www.thecedrics.ca.
