On November 8, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture announced several changes related to staff support for the BC Arts Council (BCAC). Most notably, Kim Reid steps in as interim executive director, replacing Gillian Wood, who has served as executive director of the BCAC since 2009.

Reid has previously been responsible for programs such as Community Resilience through Arts and Culture, ASSAI, International Presence and ArtsVest. She reports to Brian Jonker, who has served as executive lead for the Ministry’s arts and culture portfolio since the summer of 2017 and has worked with stakeholders and federal and provincial colleagues to support arts in culture in the Province. He is also lead on the Chinese Canadian Museum and works with the City of Vancouver on the UNESCO world heritage designation bid for Vancouver's Chinatown.

In addition to welcoming Kim Reid, the BC Alliance would like to acknowledge Gillian Wood for her decades of service, commitment and support for arts and culture in BC. Gillian has long been a nationally regarded leader who has given generously of her time, and held respectful and sincere conversations with the creative community. We thank Gillian for maintaining an open door, and wish her all the best in her future projects.
