INNOVATEsymposium: a Symposium on Cultural Diversity and Innovation

September 29th, 2012 @ The Roundhouse

Based on the provocative and energetic model of the Creative Time Summit in NYC,
 Boca del Lupo and The Roundhouse bring together some of Canada’s most interesting and diverse arts innovators for a day of passionate dialogue and debate.

Speakers include:

Romeo Candido, the creator of hilarious and wildly popular 
interactive web musical Prison Dancer

Meeru Dhalwala, the culinary artist and food activist of Vij’s and Joy of Feeding fame

Marie Clements, writer, film maker, theatre artist and currently writer in residence at the National Arts Centre and SFU

Jay Hirabayashi, artistic director of Kokoro Dance and curator of
the Vancouver International Dance Festival

Janet Lumb, Director of the longest running Asian Heritage Month Festival in Canada Asian Heritage month

Yvette Nolan, writer, director and former artistic director of Native Earth Theatre

Mina Shum, prolific film maker and director who came on the scene with her
break out film Double Happiness

Gurpreet Sian, executive director of South Asian Arts

Alvin Erasga Tolentino of Co.ERASGA Dance

Connie Watts, mixed media artist and designer

Maiko Yamamoto co artistic director of Theatre Replacement

Jean Yoon, dynamic film and theatre performer, named one of the Top Ten Theatre Artists of 2011 by NOW Magazine, Toronto
