NOTICE OF PUBLIC OPEN HOUSE

NORTHEAST FALSE CREEK HIGH LEVEL REVIEW PLANNING STUDY

PROPOSED DIRECTIONS FOR THE FUTURE OF THE AREA

September 14, 2009

 Dear Sir/Madam:

RE:

Northeast False Creek High Level Review Planning Study

Proposed Directions for the Future (See the attached Map)

The City of Vancouver has been conducting a planning study (High Level Review) of the Northeast False Creek area.  Council has received the first of two reports on the study findings and proposed Directions on future land use and density for the area.  The proposed Directions build upon the existing role of the area as a unique citywide and regional focus of sports, entertainment, community and cultural events.  The Directions identify a network of public open spaces, and discuss the amount of commercial space and residential space that could be accommodated in Northeast False Creek.

If approved by City Council, the Directions for the Future will guide the future development of the area and form the basis for site specific rezoning and concurrent amendments to the False Creek North Official Development Plan.

Open Houses will be held to share the findings of the completed study on all topic areas and to seek public comments. You are invited to attend an Open House to view the vision and proposed policies for the future development of NEFC.  Feedback from the Open Houses will be considered in the preparation of a second and final report to Council on the proposed Directions for Northeast False Creek in late fall.
