TIC was originally established as a British Columbia registered Society under the name The Vancouver Theatresports League in 1981. JOB DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Front of House & Theatre Operations Manager (FOH&TOPSM), the Manager on Duty (MOD) oversees the front of house staff (bar, box office, volunteers) in the theatre during shows and events, and is responsible for providing leadership while on shift, and providing patrons with an excellent TIC experience. They report any ideas, issues, or concerns to the FOH&TOPSM in a timely manner. The Manager on Duty Assist (MODA) supports the MOD, who is the main leadership role on show shifts.

This is a seasonal position comprised of weekends and evenings depending on show schedules and daytime weekly hours as needed. Weekly hours are not guaranteed, but typically range from 16–20 per week. Seasonal hires are expected to give full availability for weekends throughout the holiday season. Staff are also required to work either Christmas Eve or New Year’s Eve, based on the needs of the organization. Seasonal positions are for October 14 until Jan. 31, with the possibility to extend.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide guests with a positive, professional experience during their visit

  • In collaboration with the BOA, approve resolutions to patron issues such as comps, exchanges, and waived fees

  • Communicate with the Stage Manager to keep shows running on time

  • Provide leadership in emergency evacuation and first aid scenarios

  • Open and close the venue on programming nights safely and securely

  • Send the FOH end-of-day report including attendance, bar sales, and patron issues at the end of each shift

  • Shifts will vary between Manager on Duty and Manager On Duty Assist depending on business needs

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Exceptional customer service with outstanding people skills

  • Experience in leading and training people

  • Minimum 2 years in customer service

  • Proficient computer skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently

  • Experience in leading and managing staff and volunteers

  • Strong problem-solving skills under pressure

  • Experience in venue/facilities management considered an asset

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Valid Serving It Right and basic First Aid considered assets

  • A passion for the arts and the non-profit sector

REMUNERATION:
$21.36 per hour for Manager on Duty Assist and $22.43 per hour for Manager on Duty, plus vacation pay less statutory withholdings.
