JOB DESCRIPTION:
Ballet BC is seeking an experienced, progressive, and collaborative dance professional to assume the role of Manager of Education and Engagement. Reporting to both the Artistic Director and the Managing Director, the Manager of Education and Engagement is responsible for teaching movement workshops and developing, coordinating, and delivering all company outreach and education programs in line with Ballet BC’s artistic vision, mandate, and objectives.

ROLE AND RELATIONSHIPS
• Maintains a strong collaborative partnership with the Artistic Director, dancers, and all members of the artistic and administrative teams.
• Develops and maintains dialogue with community partners and curates programming aligned with the company’s strategic goals and mission.
• Serves as an ambassador, representative, and spokesperson for the company and its artistic objectives, always acting in the best interest of the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Outreach Program
• Create a season plan for outreach and education activities aligned with strategic goals and programming.
• Design and implement new programs in collaboration with the Artistic Director.
• Facilitate outreach classes in the community and in Ballet BC studios for public, private, and alternative education programs.
• Manage the Student and Community Dress Rehearsal program at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre.
• Engage with seniors through wellness-focused dance sessions in the community or Ballet BC studios.
• Hire and train Ballet BC community teachers for school programs when required.
• Prepare annual budgets for outreach and education activities in collaboration with the Managing Director.
• Collaborate with the Development Department on fundraising goals and needs.
• Track and report attendance and milestones for the Development and Artistic teams and summarize season plans for foundation and grant applications.
• Submit all outreach expenses (instructor invoices, supplies, studio bookings, etc.) to the Finance Department and review expenses as requested.
• Work with the Artistic Director to identify opportunities for dancers and emerging artists to participate in community and school outreach activities.

Ballet BC Annex
• Develop and maintain relationships with public and private schools to book performances for Ballet BC Annex, liaising with educators, artistic staff, production staff, and dancers. Facilitate performance talkbacks and workshops when scheduled.
• Develop and coordinate the annual Ballet BC Annex tour in collaboration with the Associate Artistic Producer and Annex Touring Stage Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Strong background in dance, including teaching experience, and proven skills in developing and managing outreach and engagement strategies
• Proven experience teaching dance and movement to participants of varied ages, backgrounds, and skill levels
• Experience designing, delivering, and evaluating educational programs for youth and adults
• Confident public speaker with experience leading presentations, workshops, and group facilitation
• Understanding of cross-cultural dynamics and ability to build and maintain effective partnerships
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Proven track record in developing, implementing, and evaluating strategic initiatives
• Proactive attitude with strong work ethic and positivity
• Post-secondary degree or diploma in arts, education, or a related field
• Proficiency in computer applications, with experience in budget planning and management considered an asset
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages are an asset
• Willingness and ability to travel regularly between Ballet BC and schools or community partners
