Evergreen Cultural Centre Society operates a professional venue that offers arts and cultural services to the Tri-Cities area (Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, and Port Moody). The core business is to provide performing arts, visual arts, arts education, temporary public art, and facility rentals that are representative of, and accessible to, the local community. Our mission is to inspire the community by providing engaging, quality entertainment, exhibitions, and arts programs in a welcoming environment. The centre houses a 257-seat, flexible black box theatre and a 1,500 square foot public art gallery. The Rehearsal Studio and several art studios provide an additional 5,000 square feet of space for Evergreen’s classes, workshops, and rentals while the glassed-in lobby offers a spectacular view of Lafarge Lake.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Evergreen Cultural Centre seeks a creative and enthusiastic individual to join our Front of House team. Reporting to the Front of House Manager, this position supports all aspects of running events by providing exceptional customer service to patrons, clients, and staff. Candidates must be available to work weekends, evenings, and some day shifts. This is a casual position based on organizational needs, and hours may vary depending on activity levels.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as Front of House supervisor for various events.

  • Execute front of house event services for a wide range of activities hosted at ECC; respond to inquiries, handle complaints, and resolve problems as required.

  • Oversee concession operations during events, including liquor service, inventory management, cash control, and sales reporting.

  • Supervise event volunteers.

  • Work collaboratively with box office staff, technicians, and event planners to coordinate events.

  • Ensure all emergency procedures are followed by volunteers, clients, and patrons.

  • Ensure patron satisfaction throughout events.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Front of House Manager or designate.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Experience in the service industry, including food and beverage or event management.
• Experience working with and overseeing customer service or hospitality personnel.
• Experience working with volunteers.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Understanding of theatre protocol.
• Training in the arts or similar service-oriented industry is an asset.
• Awareness of safety standards for public facilities.
• Meaningful understanding and genuine commitment to diversity, inclusion, anti-racism, and equity.
• Organized and diplomatic.
• Able to creatively problem solve.
• Availability for evening and weekend shifts.
• Able to work independently, quickly, and efficiently.

Desired Qualifications:
• Training or experience in event management, hospitality, food service, or related areas.
• Serving It Right and Food Safe Level 1 certification.
• Demonstrated understanding of Provincial regulations related to liquor licenses, food handling, safety, and emergency evacuation procedures.
• Occupational First Aid Level 1 certification is an asset.

REMUNERATION:
$22.84/hour + 4% vacation pay
