Job Description:

Langley City is seeking a Regular full-time Recreation Programmer – Arts, Culture and Heritage to join our talented team. Reporting to the Recreation Supervisor, the successful candidate will help deliver special events programming and play a key role in implementing arts, culture and heritage strategies and initiatives that support a vibrant, safe and inclusive community. RATE OF PAY: Pay Grade 19 - $36.36 to $38.25 per hour (2024 CUPE rates) HOURS OF WORK: 35 hours per week. Tuesday to Friday, 11:00am – 7:00pm and Saturday, 8:30am - 4:30pm

Responsibilities:

This position will regularly engage with a variety of community partners and support events such as the Sounds of Summer Concert Series, Langley City Film Festival, Magic of Christmas and more. The role will also act as the coordinator for Langley City art galleries and exhibits. The Recreation Programmer also provides leadership and instruction to Recreation Workers and volunteers.

Qualifications:

A Diploma in Recreation or a related discipline, along with courses related to programming in a recreation setting or an equivalent combination of training and experience is desired. The successful candidate will have outstanding leadership, organizational, communication and customer service skills as well as an ability to build and maintain effective working relationships. A valid BC Driver’s Licence and a valid Emergency First Aid certificate are required. Details of the position and its requirements can be found at www.langleycity.ca/careers.
