JOB DESCRIPTION:
The City of Delta is looking for dynamic, creative, and energetic Dance Instructors to teach our recreational dance programs for all ages and abilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop and implement quality, instructional, and engaging classes in ballet, hip hop, and jazz (other dance mediums will be considered)
• Deliver programs on a weekly basis during weekday mornings, weekday after-school/evenings, and weekends
• Facilitate week-long camps running Monday–Friday over the summer
• Create lesson plans for a series of sessional classes
• Instruct participants of various ages and abilities
• Maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Formal training in dance (hip hop, ballet, jazz, contemporary, and/or other styles)
• Strong teaching background and experience instructing dance to a variety of age groups
• Flexible, self-motivated, and able to take initiative with little supervision
• Responsible and punctual
• Strong customer service, classroom management, and organizational skills
• Willingness to work 2–4 hour shifts in Tsawwassen, Ladner, and/or North Delta
• Availability to work evenings (starting as early as 3 pm) and weekends
• Ability to commit to two sessions (approximately two months in duration)
• Ability to pass and maintain a clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS)
