The Gulf of Georgia Cannery, built in 1894 in the historic village of Steveston, is a living
monument to the people involved in BC’s fishing industry. The National Historic Site is operated by the Gulf of Georgia Cannery Society, a non-profit society. Collaborating with Parks Canada, the Society preserves Canada’s West Coast fishing history and presents it in an engaging and relevant way.

Job Description:

We are seeking an outgoing and independent individual to support our Executive Director for
administration, financial and asset management duties. Our team and working environment

Responsibilities:

We are seeking an outgoing and independent individual to support our Executive Director for
administration, financial and asset management duties. Our team and working environment

Responsibilities:
The Museum Assistant Administrator will report to the Executive Director and collaborate with
other departments. This role will play a significant part in supporting the overall management
of a National Historic site with a focus on organization excellence and process improvements.
Specific tasks and duties assigned to the Museum Assistant Administrator include:
 Physical and digital document organization archiving and cataloguing.
 Assist in financial analysis of operational expenses and revenue
 Research internal and external guiding policies and procedures
 Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements that contribute to
departmental and overall management of the operation.
 Assist and participate in facilities management deliverables that involve preventative
maintenance, repairs or special projects.
 Participate in staff, Parks Canada and vendor meetings and group training opportunities
when offered.
 Collaborate with other staff and Parks Canada to deliver administrative, financial or
organization tasks.
 Other duties as required and directed by the Executive Director

Skills and Experience:
 Exceptional organizational, analytical and problem solving skills.
 A strong aptitude with database management, related software, MS Office products.
 Articulate, creative and confident in various forms of communication.
 You have experience working within a not-for-profit, educational setting or similar
enterprise.
 Fluency in English is required, fluency in French or other languages is a strong asset.
 Experience in delivering exceptional customer service in a museum or heritage setting is
an asset.

Remuneration:

$19.50 per hour @ 7 hours per day for 5 days a week plus 6% in lieu of vacation and benefits.  Comprehensive training will be provided by the employer along with 1:1 mentorship provided by the Executive Director
