VIVO Media Arts Centre (“VIVO”) is an intersectional settler-founded and operated organization located on the stolen, sacred and ancestral territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Incorporated as Satellite Video Exchange Society (“SVES”), VIVO acts as an agent for emergent experimental media arts practices. Our programs foster formal and critical approaches to media arts and reflect the diversity of contemporary technologies and communities that coalesce around new forms of knowledge and creativity. VIVO builds an engaged audience through workshops, production support, distribution, artist residencies, performances, exhibitions, and curatorial and archival research. We also attend to a significant and substantial repository of media art history. VIVO uniquely facilitates and fosters regional artistic practices through these activities and our extensive archival resources.

Job Description:
Position Summary The Administrative Assistant works alongside core staff to support daily operations and program delivery. This internship provides hands-on experience across media art production, programming, archiving, communications, and distribution. The role is suited to someone who wants practical experience in a working media arts environment and exposure to multiple areas of the sector. Work Environment 9 weeks, 30 hours per week. Anticipated start date is June 1, 2026. The intern will work closely with the core staff. The role includes both desk-based work and hands-on support during events and production. The Internship is an in-person role at VIVO Media Arts Centre. At VIVO’s office, they will be exposed to noise and a regular flow of people. Moderate lifting (up to 30 pounds) may be required on an occasional basis. We are in a shared building, so we cannot guarantee a scent-free space. However, we aim to have a scent-reduced space.
Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities Support the General Manager with day-to-day administrative and operational tasks Assist with media art production and programming activities Support event planning, setup, and delivery Contribute to marketing and communications, including writing alt-text for accessibility Assist with outreach materials and content updates Work with staff to maintain accurate records and documentation Provide general office and project support as required Learning Opportunities Media art production and programming workflows Arts administration and nonprofit operations Accessibility practices in communications, including alt-text writing Distribution of media art to festivals, galleries, and partners Event production and public program delivery Direct mentorship from core staff and an artist mentor Exposure to professional networks in the media arts sector
Qualifications:
Qualifications Interest in media arts, arts administration, or cultural work Strong organization and communication skills Apple/Mac systems, including word processing and shared drives Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Attention to detail and willingness to learn To be eligible for Canada Summer Jobs, you must: be between 15 and 30 years old at the start of their summer job be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the job and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
