The Langley Arts Council (LAC) is a charitable organization that has been serving the residents of the Township and City of Langley since 1968. The LAC attained charitable status in 1996, which gave the Arts Council more opportunity for continued growth and flourishing into the arts and cultural umbrella organization it is today. As a community-based arts organization, the mission of the Langley Arts Council is to: “Cultivate, sustain, and proliferate artistic activity in the Langleys by offering both monetary and resource support to the community as well as developing new and innovative programs in a variety of artistic disciplines.”

Job Description:

The Arts Coordinator plays a central role in the development, management and expansion of the arts programming for the Langley Arts Council. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and evaluating a wide range of artistic programming that align with the organizations missions to support and promote arts within the community.

The ideal candidate is passionate about arts and culture, highly organized, skilled in program development and management, community engagement and collaboration with artists and arts organizations and partners.

Responsibilities:

- Develop, manage and evaluate arts programming that aligns with the organization’s goals and community needs.
- Interviewing and working with prospective instructors.
- Work with artists, instructors, and partners to design and deliver high-quality class series’ and workshops.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local artists community organizations, and cultural partners
- Coordinate all aspects of program logistics, including scheduling, contracts, venue arrangements, materials and equipment.
- Monitor program budgets and ensure responsible financial management of assigned projects.
- Assist with grant reporting and data collection related to arts programming
- Promote programs through collaboration with partners as well as other promotional streams familiar to the Langley Arts Council including content creation for monthly newsletter, updating website, social media etc.
- Evaluate program outcomes and participant feedback to ensure continuous improvement
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with organizational policies and funding requirements.
- Attend community events on occasion to support community engagement.
- Coordinating volunteers for classes and events; including assessment, recruitment, and placement.

Qualifications:

- Previous arts sector experience is considered an asset.
- Excellent organization skills, time management, and project coordination skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to work effectively with artists, community members and stakeholders.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively as a team.
- The successful candidate must be available to work a total of 18 hours per week, including one regular shift on Saturdays, as well as flexibility for community events.
