North Van Arts, founded in 1969 as The North Vancouver Community Arts Council, is a grassroots, non-profit, charitable cultural organization dedicated to maximizing the intrinsic value of the arts in all media.

Our mandate is to enable emerging and professional artists in all disciplines, to bridge cultures, and to build strong and healthy communities through the arts.

Located in CityScape Community ArtSpace, the organization consists of a volunteer Board of Directors, an Executive Director and support staff, and over 100 dedicated volunteers. Our membership is over 400 strong and includes individuals, students, seniors, families, cultural groups and businesses.

Volunteer Opportunity Description:

Join our Camp Creative team this July! We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers (15+) to help inspire young artists, support fun hands-on activities, build valuable skills, and earn volunteer hours in a creative, community-focused environment.

Dates: Monday to Friday across four weeks in July

July 6-10
July 13-17
July 20-24
July 27-31

* Volunteer call for August Camp Creative will be announced in July.

Shifts:
Morning shift: 8 AM - 1 PM
Afternoon shift: 12 - 4 PM

* Minimum of 4 hours commitment.

Location: Maplewood House, 399 Seymour River Pl, North Vancouver

What you'll gain:
- Valuable hands-on experience in a fast-paced and lively creative environment
- Organizational and supervisory experience in youth education
- Volunteer credits for school (if required)

Responsibilities:

As Camp Creative Volunteers, you will:
- Work with 12 campers (aged 6-11) in 4 or 5 hours shifts supported by North Van Arts staff
- Help facilitate hands-on activities led by the instructor
- Assist the instructor and staff with setup and teardown tasks
- Be punctual and maintain responsible and respectful communication with the children, instructors, and staff.

Qualifications:

Camp Creative Volunteers must:
- Be energetic and engaged
- Attend an online onboarding training session.
- Be at least 15 years old.
- Obtain a Criminal Record Check if you are 18+ years old. Please note criminal record checks for volunteer positions are free and might take a few weeks to be processed, so applicants are encouraged to apply soon. North Van Arts will facilitate the criminal record checks.
