Call for Visual Art Commission ($500) | Theme: Juxtaposition
/ORGANIZATION: The Piccolo Gallery
DEADLINE: Mar. 31, 2026 (or 100 applicants, whichever comes first)
WEBSITE: https://www.thepiccologallery.com/
CALL FOR ARTISTS:
Theme: Juxtaposition
Mediums: All traditional visual mediums, including photography, ceramics, and sculpture.
Applicants must be 18+ and an art student, passionate hobbyist, or emerging artist (earning less than $80k/year of artist income; does not include other full-time or part-time employment income).
Commission Spots: 3–5 artists
Artwork Size: Any size
This call theme, Juxtaposition, invites artists to explore. It is an invitation to disrupt existing patterns or showcase disruptions if that is already part of the artist’s style. For example, if a regular palette is soft and pastel, consider introducing bold, dark elements. If sculpting elegant forms, add a chrome-sparkle finish. If painting florals, let a ghost peek through the petals. The goal is not to make something unusual for the sake of it, but to allow for something new and different—work that makes a viewer pause and say, “I can’t quite explain why this works… but it does” (and if it doesn’t work, that is ok too).
Commissioned work will be auctioned by The Piccolo Gallery at the end of the year. Funds raised will be reinvested into the program to support future commissions.
