Job Description:

The Summer Student Event Assistant will support the facilitation and administration of special events and community programs at Vancouver Civic Theatres (VCT). The successful candidate will assist in executing event logistics, support branding as an ambassador, and liaise with staff to ensure the success of summer programs and projects such as:

• Sunset Cinema
• Dance, Dance, Dance
• Summer Sounds Live music series
• Gallery Open House
• Granville Block Party

Key Contacts and Reporting Relationships
Reporting to the Programming and Engagement Manager, the successful candidate will work closely with the Community Arts Programmers to support the activation of the department’s

summer programs, events and festivals. The position works as part of a collaborative team with the Marketing and Programming department, who both report to the Senior Manager, Sales and Marketing.

Responsibilities:

Specific Duties/Responsibilities
• Assists with set-up and striking of events
• Assists with receiving deliveries and setting up vendors
• Assists with assessing and creating event signage as needed
• Ad-hoc duties at events
• Acts as a brand ambassador at key events, using marketing materials to connect with patrons
• Photographs events for use on social media platforms on occasion
• Responds to inquiries from the public on the day of the event related to the event
• Works non-standardized hours, including evenings and weekends
• Researches and compiles information as requested
• Other duties/responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualification Requirements Education and Experience:

• Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by post-secondary courses in events management, community relations, and/or marketing, OR an equivalent combination of training and
experience
• Experience in working with diverse communities
• Some experience planning and implementing special events
• Student in the field of arts administration, performing arts, film and television, marketing or recreation

Remuneration:

• PG 9 $23.12 per hour (2024 rate) + 4% in lieu
• 30 Hours per week, Tuesday-Friday
• Worksite - Queen Elizabeth Theatre
