All of our productions and classes are intentionally inclusive. At any given time, our ensembles and classrooms may include people who identify as disabled, neurodivergent, mentally ill, chronically ill, Deaf, racialized, trans, queer, or simply artists looking to explore new methods of collaborative, mixed-ability creation.

Job Description:
We are seeking a visionary and collaborative Artistic Director (AD) to lead the artistic direction of Theatre Terrific. In partnership with the General Manager and Board of Directors, the AD will guide programming, mentorship, and partnerships to support our values and mission.

Responsibilities:
Artistic and Strategic Leadership
- Guide the company’s artistic vision and ensure it aligns with our mission
- Develop short- and long-term programming strategies
- Maintain strong relationships with staff, artists, Board, and partners
- Represent the company locally and nationally in arts and disability communities
Programming and Curation
- Curate and oversee seasonal productions, events, and classes, including the Fringe "Harvest" show
- Hire and lead artistic teams for each production
- Work with the GM to coordinate venues and instructor hiring
- Support the Artist Emergence Initiative and mentorship pairings
Mentorship and Artist Development
- Provide mentorship to company artists
- Support participants in the Artist Emergence Initiative
- Collaborate with the Artist Advisory Committee to ensure responsive programming
Outreach and Community Engagement
- Represent Theatre Terrific at community and arts events
- Build and maintain partnerships with service providers, theatre companies, and co-producers
Administration and Reporting
- Submit monthly and annual reports to the Board
- Collaborate on funding applications and reports
- Participate in Board planning sessions as needed
Qualifications:
Required
- Experience as a theatre artist and/or director
- Leadership or coordination role in a performing arts setting
- Experience working inclusively with diverse or marginalized communities
Preferred
- Familiarity with production, budgeting, and program design
- Grant writing or fundraising experience
- Degree in Theatre, Arts, or related fields is an asset, but not required

Remuneration:
$60,000 to 75,000 annually pro-rated to 20 hours per week. Salary is commensurate with experience and organizational budget.
