The Dance Centre is one of Canada’s most respected dance organizations, serving the dance community in British Columbia and operating the Scotiabank Dance Centre, a unique purpose-built facility. The building is open seven days a week and sees thousands of visitors every year.

Job Description:
The Visitor Services Associate reports to the Venue and Services Manager. Working primarily in the main lobby of Scotiabank Dance Centre, they are the welcoming face of The Dance Centre.
Various shifts are available (daytime, evening, weekends). Flexibility is highly desired.
The Dance Centre operates Mon–Fri 9am–9pm, Sat 9am–6pm, Sun 10am–6pm.
NB: With notice, evening shifts may be extended later due to events in the theatre.
Hours will vary from 0–20 hours per week.
Schedules are set well in advance to allow you to plan ahead.

Responsibilities:

  • Take studio bookings, maintain client records, process invoices and take payments via cash, debit, and credit cards.

  • When welcoming guests, ensure they are aware of protocols and can orient themselves through the facility and respond to a variety of dance-related queries from visitors.

  • Have knowledge about a wide range of aspects of the building and associated events, receive goods, direct tradespeople.

  • From time to time, may be required to sell tickets to events or take workshop registration.

  • All duties are to be performed while providing a high level of customer service in a timely manner and with accuracy and attention to detail, and related duties.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of High School is required

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Ability to maintain focus and a professional demeanour while serving large numbers of visitors and responding to phone enquiries

  • Ability to work as a team member with other visitor services staff to ensure efficiency and continuity of workflow throughout the day

  • Attention to detail

  • Ability to show initiative and assess and resolve visitor needs and rental enquiries quickly in a fast-paced environment

  • Dance/arts-related knowledge/education is an asset

Preference may be given to those who can start immediately, as well as those with regular Friday through Monday availability.
