Job Description:
Place des Arts is seeking a committed, enthusiastic, and qualified Children’s Ceramics Teacher with experience teaching children’s clay classes during our 2025/2026 season, specifically for our Spring Break Camps (March 16–20, 2026, and March 23–27, 2026) and Summer Fun! Art Camps (July 6–August 14, 2026), with the possibility of being engaged to teach private lessons and/or group classes as requested during the season. The candidate must be passionate about teaching and interact well with students of different ages and abilities. Contractor teachers determine the curriculum and teaching methodology. Place des Arts coordinates studio space, scheduling, registration and program promotions.
Responsibilities:
• All teachers are required to obtain and provide a Police Information Check with a vulnerable sector screening prior to providing teaching services.
• Teachers are required to submit class proposals for consideration.
• Teachers are not employees of Place des Arts and as such are required to work independently within the Place des Arts structure and administrative support provided.
Qualifications:
• Completion of post-secondary education in ceramics
• Minimum of three years of teaching experience working with students of various abilities in group classes for students aged 5–14 years
• Ability to communicate and interact positively with students and staff, including studio technician
• Proficient in teaching a variety of ages and abilities
• Highly responsible and punctual
• Thoughtful, energetic and passionate about teaching
• Ability to complete kiln firings for classes taught an asset; qualified technicians would receive a separate technician agreement
• Eager to participate in, and contribute to, our vibrant centre

Remuneration:
Successful candidates will be engaged as independent contractors and earn fees based on student enrolment. Depending on enrolment levels, contractor teachers typically have the opportunity to obtain fees equivalent to between $30 and $65 per teaching hour.
