Job Description:
The Executive Director provides strategic leadership and oversees the administrative and financial management of Cool Arts Society. They supervise the team, develop partnerships and funding, and ensure the sustainability of the organization in alignment with its mission. This is a part-time position at 20 hours/week.
Responsibilities:
Finances & Fundraising
Develop and manage the annual budget based on actuals
Identify, write, and follow up on funding requests (grants, partnerships)
Work with funding agents and elicit funding through grant preparation and submission
Oversee day-to-day accounting and financial management
Monitor transactions, approve expenses, and ensure accurate records
Manage cash flow and prepare year-end financial documentation
Coordinate with bookkeeper to ensure accounting accuracy
Ensure legal and financial compliance
Human Resources
Oversee recruitment and training of staff and contractors
Supervise onboarding and evaluations
Foster an ethical, inclusive team culture
Governance
Advise and inform the Board on operational and financial matters
Develop annual business plans and long-term strategic vision
Attend Board meetings in an advisory capacity
Oversee strategic plan execution
External Relations
Represent the organization publicly and build community partnerships
Maintain media and partner relationships
Programs & Operations
Collaborate with Communications and Exhibitions Coordinator
Ensure delivery of programming in alignment with funder expectations
Administrative
Write reports as needed
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
Degree/diploma in Arts Administration, Non-Profit Management, or related field
Minimum 2 years’ leadership experience in the non-profit or cultural sector
Financial management, budgeting, and grant writing experience
Board and staff/contractor management experience
Experience with inclusive arts programming is an asset
